“They sent forth men to battle, But no such men return; And home, to claim their welcome, Come ashes in an urn”

“There is advantage in the wisdom won from pain.”

“It is a profitable thing, if one is wise, to seem foolish.”

“Human knowledge is not (or does not follow) a straight line, but a curve, which endlessly approximates a series of circles, a spiral. Any fragment, segment, section of this curve can be transformed (transformed one-sidedly) into an independent, complete, straight line, which then (if one does not see the wood for the trees) leads into the quagmire, into clerical obscurantism (where it is anchored by the class interests of the ruling classes).”

“I am bound to accord you, in the name of free speech, the full right to shout, lie and write to your heart’s content. But you are bound to grant me, in the name of freedom of association, the right to enter into, or withdraw from, association with people advocating this or that view.”

“I particularly approve of and welcome the arrest of millionaire saboteurs in the first and second-class railway carriage.”

“I had already drawn up the plan for the next, the seventh chapter, on the 'Experience of the Russian Revolutions of 1905 and 1917.' But... It is more pleasant and useful to go through the 'experience of the revolution' than to write about it.”

I am one of those who think like Nobel, that humanity will draw more good than evil from new discoveries.

So perished the hope founded on the wonderful being who thus ceased to be. In the study room to which he was never to return, the water buttercups he had brought from the country were still fresh.

This abnormal situation resulted in exciting the patriotic feeling of Polish youths to the highest degree.

“A fool is wise in his eyes.”

There is no man who has power over the spirit to retain the spirit, nor has he power over the day of death. And there is no discharge in war. Neither shall wickedness deliver him who is given to it.

Every wise woman builds her house, but a foolish woman pulls it down with her own hands.

Even fools are thought wise when they keep silent.

“Who is the wise man? He, who sees what’s going to be born.”

I discovered that wisdom is better than foolishness, just as light is better than darkness. Foolishness leaves you in the dark. But wise or foolish, we all end up the same... we all die and are soon forgotten.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding.

Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

"I can't relate to lazy people. We don't speak the same language. I don't understand you. I don't want to understand you.

"The important thing is that your teammates have to know you're pulling for them and you really want them to be successful."

"I'm here. I'm not going anywhere. No matter what the injury -- unless it's completely debilitating -- I'm going to be the same player I've always been. I'll figure it out. I'll make some tweaks, some changes, but I'm still coming."

"When you make a choice and say, 'Come hell or high water, I am going to be this,' then you should not be surprised when you are that. It should not be something that is intoxicating or out of character because you have seen this moment for so long that ... when that moment comes, of course it is here because it has been here the whole time, because it has been [in your mind] the whole time."

We can always kind of be average and do what’s normal. I’m not in this to do what’s normal.

I create my own path. It was straight and narrow. I looked at it this way: you were either in my way, or out of it.
