There is something so fun about scaring yourself.

Cape Town, South Africa, was pretty incredible. That's probably the coolest place I have ever been, and the kiteboarding is insane there. It's so windy, so you can get massive air.

I think 'The Shining' is one of the first horror movies I remember seeing.

What I love about my job is challenging myself and finding weird, different roles.

All my Dominican friends live in an area called Los Venaga. Their houses are shacks. They'd invite us over to dinner, and we'd sit in plastic chairs on the dirt inside a house.

If you've got people around you that are like, 'Oh, you're so good,' this and that, it becomes unhealthy. My friends are like, 'You look like a doofus.' I'm like, 'Thank you. Thank you for that.' It keeps me grounded.

You go to see movies to feel something, and being terrified - there's something so fun about that.

I have a weird thing with knives. I don't like knives very much. Like when my parents are cooking in the kitchen and using knives to chop vegetables, I can't be in the same room. For whatever reason, knives just terrify me.

Cheerleader roles are really not my thing. I want things that are weird or not typical.

I think a superhero would be awesome to play.

There's a lot of garbage, and then there are those ones that just stand out so incredibly. You fight for those roles; you do everything in your power to get it.

I like challenges. I think that's important.

For me, it's first about the characters. I look for a character who is intriguing and challenging and different from what I've done before.

They have so many great horror movies made in the '80s. I mean, the old-school horror is so good.

I think, specifically with the horror genre, you have to make it very believable because it can come across ridiculous.

For me, I grew up doing kiteboarding where no girls are doing it, and you had to prove yourself. You just had to know that you could do it, too. It's the mentality you had to have to make it. I work hard like anyone else.

Surprisingly, I am great at kiteboarding, but I'm not great at surfing.

You learn so much on set; I don't know if you learn as much anywhere else as you do when you're on set, working.

I grew up in the indie world, and that's what I'm used to, but there's something really incredible about having money behind a film and having the time to do as many takes as you want.

My grandma passed away from cancer, and actually, when I was 18, I had an experience with melanoma - it's in the family. I had that experience where everything comes into perspective. It's the weirdest thing, 'cause you're like, 'It will never happen to me,' and when it does, it's like, 'OK, wow.'

I'm an only child, and we're a close family.

No one is born evil; it's just the choices that they make.

If you've got cool nails, you wake up and you're like, 'Oh, I'm happy now.'

When I was in primary school, my best friend was a boy and we always goofed around, climbed trees, got holes in my trousers and muddied all my tops and things like that; a complete nightmare for the washing, but great fun.

People throw insults at you, and sometimes they hit a nerve - and it's about not showing that, because they will pick on that. Don't feed the trolls!

You know sometimes when you're in a really bad mood and you're not sure why? That's how I get sometimes.

17 is the weirdest age, because you can't figure out if you want to grow up or be a child.

I get a lot of fan mail and stuff, and usually it's for me to sign stuff.

On 'Game of Thrones', the people that I've met, of the people behind the scenes, was not even a scratch of the vast crew that actually does work on that show.

People don't always do what they say they're going to do.

For every three scripts that you get through, one will be made, and that doesn't even necessarily mean that they're going to cast you in it.

Whether I like it or not, I've become influential to people.

As soon as someone finds out something you're insecure about or that bothers you, they will use that against you, which is awful.

I feel people care so much about their appearance - which is important, and I do still care about my appearance, but not that much. There's far more to life than that.

Doing the sword fighting is like picking up a dance routine... I think dancing really helps with the picking up of it.

If you put music into your Vine, and it's really jumpy, just do it over again.

My family are the epicenter of all my decisions.

I'm a little bit awkward on Twitter; like, I'm never really sure what to say.

I look at other people my age in this industry, other famous people my age, and they've just got famous friends. Which is cool, but I love being normal and just chilling at mine.

On my actual 16th birthday, on the actual day, I went home and I had chicken korma and Peshwari naan bread and pilau rice, and that was fantastic.

Sometimes people think they know you and they go, 'Hey!' and then they realize that they've just seen you on the television. That's kind of funny sometimes.

Being in South Africa, that messed up my body a little bit. I broke out in spots, and I got really dehydrated, and the water was really different. It was really strange, because you're on the other side of the planet, and you think, 'Oh, water is the same everywhere,' and it is, but it still felt strange.

I like shocking people just because, like, I can wear a dress, too. Not even for people to go, 'Oh she's grown up,' but to show people that I'm actually a girl.

I like the fact that when you're put into a really extreme situation, you put everything else aside. You put your ego aside and get on with it, and I quite like that.

I watch vlogs on YouTube. I watch Jenna Marbles a lot - I think she's really funny - and a lady called Daily Grace.

I follow Elle Fanning's career. I really like to follow actors who are a similar age to me. Just to see what they're up to.

People ask me, 'Isn't it scary living on your own?' but in this industry, being at events, doing interviews, and doing promotion and constantly chatting about yourself, sometimes it's really nice to just sit in silence or take a day where you can sleep in until 3 P.M. and then stay up as late as you like.

A lot of actors and actresses pull from past experiences.

Before I was born, my mom and my dad, they used to rescue dogs, so at one point, they had 13 dogs. And they were all from different litters. It wasn't like they were bred. They were all from different people. And they were all different ages. When I grew up at my dad's house, I think we had seven at one point.

There's some people that obviously abuse social networking or whatever, but I think it's a fantastic idea. I've never had any bad encounters with any of it.
