Race and sexual preferences are two different things. One is a behavior-related and preference-related and one is something inherently - skin color, something obvious, that kind of stuff.

The First Amendment is first for a reason - it cannot be ignored by the D.C. City Council.

There is a way for the IRS to be able to have a double check to make sure individuals don't file on your Social Security number early and try to get a tax return and make it chaotic for you to file your own taxes. That's not been done.

We have a very structured process for taking in refugees. It takes almost two years to transition from another country into the United States through the refugee process.

Personally and politically, I'm extremely conservative for who I am, but I'm also very careful in my tone. I don't believe just because you're a conservative that you're angry. I can be plenty frustrated and not have to constantly portray myself as upset and angry at the world.

The number of fighters that are ISIS fighters wouldn't fill up most American football stadiums. This is not a large group of individuals, but they're tenacious, and they rule with absolute terror.

One of the hardest areas is duplication; everyone knows there's lots of duplication in government. But when you ask someone, 'OK, name two programs that are duplicative,' typically there's a long pause.

There is no one leader that's going to unify all of Syria that suddenly everyone is going to go, 'Yes, that's a logical place.' They're not unified. They don't have a setup succession like we do in the United States.

I'm one of those folks that look and say the Old Testament laid out clearly the path for Christ to come, but when He came, every scholar at that time missed it.

I don't want to go home and tell my wife and my girls, 'I was gone last week because I had to do a press release.'

I am proud to join the many state legislators, governors, businessmen and hard-working Americans who have worked to build support and momentum for the idea of the Health Care Compact, and I am proud to introduce the common-sense bill for this sensible solution.

My focus has always been: I can be an incredibly conservative, principled idea person, but that doesn't mean I have to shout at people.

Personally and politically, I'm extremely conservative for who I am, but I'm also very careful in my tone.

The goal of federal regulations should be to promote health and safety, but regulatory enforcement must be balanced with common-sense policies and assistance for businesses.

I find it completely irrational to say someone who stands up for life for children is taking the life of adult. It's completely inconsistent with the values of the pro-life movement that are very passionate about protecting life, not taking life.

Government on its own is always inefficient.

I think people see the social media numbers, and the assumption is made that we're running a campaign that is just social media, but I think we're running a very old-school campaign.

The recent, single-year influx of unaccompanied minors from foreign countries into the United States is a direct result of President Obama's policies of encouraging amnesty and failing to enforce existing immigration laws.

There's a lot of middle school behavior in Washington, D.C. I look at that and I say, 'I've seen that before,' it was just with a 14-year-old.

My wife and I come from a Christian worldview.

I'm not a 'messiah' coming to change Washington. I don't come with a political background, so I think it's part of my responsibility to raise my hand and say 'Why?' Folks don't just want smaller government; they want an efficient small government.

I'm very, very pro-defense.

I don't believe just because you're a conservative that you're angry.

I can be plenty frustrated and not have to constantly portray myself as upset and angry at the world.

Race and sexual preferences are two different things. One is behavior-related and preference-related, and one is something inherently - skin color, something obvious, that kind of stuff.

We basically ran the Henry Bellmon campaign.

A lot of the issue that is happening in Syria is Assad is still there. And after years now, the administration, of saying Assad has to go, the pressure is not being applied to Russia, to Iran - the folks that are propping up Assad - and Assad himself to be able to actually be removed there and to transition to another leader.

Assad has to go. I mean, the way that ISIS can recruit, and the rebels that are in the north, and all the chaos that's happening through a lot of Syria circles around a lot of people that do not like Assad.

Assad has to be removed, and then you have to actually put someone in that is a qualified leader that can start to build some trust in that area.

It is a bipartisan gathering to be able to pray for the needs back in our districts, for our families and each other. Another thing the prayer caucus does is to address religious liberty issues around the country as they arise.

Every generation has to protect every one of their rights, whether that's freedom of the press, freedom of speech, or freedom of faith. You have to remain diligent.

Religion that is contained only within a church building is a weekend hobby, not a personal faith.

As we see thousands of public and private Christmas trees and nativity displays around the country, they remind us again of the powerful American value built into our Constitution: our freedom of religion.

Americans honor and respect each other's faith, and we honor those that choose to have no faith.

For the millions of Americans, like my family, who believe that there is a creator God who can be known personally, Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' offer of love and forgiveness for all people.

If you are going to replace somebody off of one of the bills - which I have no problem with a lady being on one of the bills - that you would replace the 20.

If we are going to remove someone, which I have no problem with doing, then let's do the 20, not the 10, the very first secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton.

I am a fan of an all-of-the-above energy strategy, and I certainly support wind as a large part of that goal.

The wind industry has made major strides over the past two decades, and they have proven their industry to be efficient and self-sustainable. There is no need for the taxpayer to continue to subsidize a wind start-up tax credit.

We have two programs dealing with bulletproof vests, two different systems of actually distributing bulletproof vests from the federal government. Two sets of applications, two different sets of personnel to approve those applications.

The future of our nation is dependent on the future of our families.

Broken families not only affect the people involved, but they have an impact on public policy decisions in Washington, D.C., and state capitols around the nation.

America is strongest when families take care of each other and walk with one another through need and loss.

We must go through every area of the federal budget to isolate waste and abandoned projects.

At times, conservatives become defined by their volume rather than by their ideas.

The different Washington, D.C.-based groups and the different special interest groups, they all want to be able to pick who they want to be a senator. They don't speak for everyone, and they definitely don't speak for Oklahomans.

It's ironic, isn't it, that one day you're one of the most conservative members, and then some individual gets mad at you, and they decide to throw millions of dollars against you because you didn't vote exactly the way they want every day.

I just don't believe that being conservative means all you do is throw stones and poke people in the eye.

I believe that being conservative means you try to get in to the middle of the fight and try to solve the problem.

I believe that conservative solutions can help families of every race, every economic background, and every town in Oklahoma.
