Frederick Buechner

Date of Birth:

11-Jul-1926

Nationality:

United States

Profession:

Frederick Buechner aspired to be a writer after graduating from the army and graduating from Princeton. His first novel, 'Death Is a Long Day But soon, his writing got stuck and he began to feel the need to deal with spiritual despair. He first attended Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church, and inspired by the preaching of the Rev. George Buttrick, he studied theology at Union Theological Seminary in New York. He was instrumental in establishing the Department of Religions at Phillips Exeter Academy. In addition to 'A Long Day's Dying' he has written many other novels such as 'The Return of Ansel Gibbs', 'The Difference's Difference', and 'Final Beast'. His most famous works are the four novels of the series Bhebb and 'Godric'. His theological works, 'The Magnificent Defeat' and 'The Hungering Dark', include his sermons. He has written four volumes of his memoirs — 'Holy Journey', 'Now and the Set', 'Telling the Secrets', and 'Eyes of the Heart'. The success of this myth brings him the ability to make faith and spiritual, interesting stories in modern myths, without much preaching. Many of his books deal with future challenges. He assures us that God will always be there to support and protect us.
