In 1980, he opened the Grand Hyatt New York, making him a well-known city engineer. In 2004, Trump began starring in NBC's reality show Apprentice. Trump turned his attention to politics, and in 2015 announced his US presidential candidacy on a Republican ticket. After winning most primaries and a cucus, Trump became the official president of the Republic on July 19, 2016. In November, Trump was elected as the 45th President of the United States, after defeating former Democratic Alliance president Hillary Clinton.
