Salvador Dali

Date of Birth:

11-May-1904

Nationality:

Spain

Profession:

From an early age, Salvador Dalí was encouraged to practice his art, and eventually he went to study at a university in Madrid. In the 1920s, he traveled to Paris and began to associate with artists such as Pablo Picasso, René Magritte, and Miró, which led to the first phase of Dalí Surrealist. He is best known for his 1931 painting The Persistence of Memory, which depicts melting clocks in the atmosphere. The rise of fascist leader Francisco Franco in Spain led to the expulsion of the artist from the Surrealist movement, but that did not stop him from painting.
