Ricky Dene Gervais is an English comedian, actor, director, producer and artist. He graduated with a degree in philosophy from University College London, began his career as an artist, failed when he joined the University of London Union as an assistant event manager, and worked there for eight years. At the same time, for a time, he also served as the general manager of a newly formed group, Suede. Eventually, he turned to humor, joining the new radio station Xfm as head of talk, where he met his long-time colleague, Stephen Merchant. The two began to shine through the mockumentary, ‘The Office’, receiving several awards for it. Followed by the equally successful 'The Ricky Gervais Show' on Xfm and 'Expras' on BBC Two. As his fame spread around the world, he began to receive special offers from Hollywood, starring in films such as 'Ghost Town' and 'Muppets Most Wanted'. He has also written, directed and acted in films such as 'The Invention of Lying', 'Cemetery Junction' and 'Special Correspondents'. He was the host of the Golden Globe Awards several times and was shortlisted in the Time 100 list of the most influential people in the world in 2010.
